What is placed

A whole yard on 44 by 70 metres. The graving dock runs the length of it, floored and walled in stepped altar sections with a stair tower at the head, and a hull stands in it in three sections: stern with its transom, parallel midbody and a bow with a bulbous forefoot, carried on a line of keel blocks with bilge blocks and adjustable shoring props to each side. Staging towers and scaffold runs stand against the plating, and the rudder on its stand, the propeller and tailshaft in their cradle, a bow thruster tunnel unit and plate stacks wait on the dock floor at the head. A 24 metre gantry crane spans the whole dock, a pillar jib crane and a crawler crane work the east apron, and the caisson closes the dock against the basin.

The dock side is where the work is. The fabrication shed runs seven bays down the east apron with a roller door at each end, two overhead travelling cranes on its rails and the plate shop under them: three roll bending machine, hydraulic press brake, profile cutting table, fitters benches, a pedestal grinder, screened welding bays, tool stores, vertical plate racks, pipe spool racks and stacks of hull plate on bearers. The west apron carries the welding and finishing line, the site office and the mess and drying room cabin, store containers, compressors and generator sets, gas bottle racks, hose and cable reels, blast units, pressure washers and a spray rig, with man baskets in their stillages and a muster board, fire points and an eyewash station on the route. Floodlight masts stand over all of it and the yard is walled on three sides.

At the north end the quay coping runs out to the water with its mooring bollards, the slipway drops into the basin on keel ways beside the launch cradle and the yard work boat, and a harbour tug lies off the quay with a second work boat moored alongside.

What moves

The gantry trolley traverses and its hook lifts, and so do both overhead travelling cranes in the shed. The jib crane and the crawler crane slew and hoist. The dock gate caisson opens and closes. The shed roller doors roll up, the cabin and store container doors open, and the tool store cabinet opens. The plate roller turns its rolls, the press brake strokes, the cutting table runs its gantry, the grinding wheels spin, the propeller turns on its shaft, the bow thruster spins in its tunnel, the hose and cable reels wind, the welding screens fold and the man baskets lift out of their stillages. Everything plays as you walk up to it.

What does not move, and why

Wire rope, hoses, cables and welding leads hang as static geometry, and so do the water, the spark and the flame. Flexible material, fluid and fire each need either a joint per element or a shader, and neither is reachable with the single rigid node transform this library animates with. There are no people anywhere in the yard: nothing in the pack is skinned. Every name board, plate, sign and container marking is blank, no real shipyard, shipping line, shipbuilder, classification society or equipment maker is named or implied, and the ship on the blocks is nobody in particular.

The demo places 59 distinct models, which is the whole published pack, at about 1.6 MB of geometry in total.

Which game engines and tools can I use Shipyard and Dry Dock with?

Anything that reads glTF, which today means all of the major ones: three.js and React Three Fiber on the web, Godot 4, Unity, Unreal Engine 5, Blender and the model-viewer web component. Every model in the scene is a self-contained binary glTF (.glb) with textures embedded, so each is one file to import and no plugin, converter or decoder to install first.

How do I import this scene into Unity, Godot, Unreal or Blender?

Unity: install the glTFast package (com.unity.cloud.gltfast) from the Package Manager, drop the .glb into Assets and drag the prefab in, or load it at runtime from the CDN URL. Godot 4: copy the file into the project folder and the editor imports it as a scene you can instantiate. Unreal Engine 5: File > Import with the built-in glTF importer, which converts the axes for you. Blender: File > Import > glTF 2.0. Units are metres with +Y up in the file, and every importer above handles the conversion to its own axes automatically.

Can I use Shipyard and Dry Dock in a commercial game, and do I need to credit anyone?

Yes to commercial use and no to credit. Every scene on 3DAssets.dev is released under CC0 1.0 Universal, which places it in the public domain: use it in a paid game, an app, a film or a client project, modify it, redistribute it, and put nothing in the credits. Can I load it from the CDN instead of downloading it?

Yes. The pack behind it has a permanent URL on cdn.3dassets.dev that is CORS-enabled and never changes content, so you can pass it straight to GLTFLoader, glTFast or model-viewer in production and cache it as hard as you like. Downloading is only needed for engines that import from disk.

Is the demo itself a file I can download?

No, and it does not need to be. A demo is a layout of the pack's published models composed in your browser from the CDN, so there is no extra file to fetch. Download the pack for the models, and take the layout JSON linked above for the placements: together they are the whole scene, and an AI agent can rebuild it from those two links.

Can I change the scene, or add gameplay to it?

Yes. The layout is plain data in metres, so move, add or remove placements freely in your own engine. Colliders, navigation and gameplay are yours to add: the demo shows what the pack looks like assembled, and your game decides how it plays.
