About

Original CC0 volcanic terrain library. Every ground module is a 4 m tile with clean vertical edges and its surface 0.25 m above its own base, so the whole set tiles against itself in any combination: cone flanks at three gradients, a crater rim section, a crater floor, a lava lake plate, straight and curved lava channels with a flow front lobe, pahoehoe crust, a pressure tumulus, aa rubble, hexagonal basalt pavement, ash field, scorched ground, a cracked plate with a glowing seam, a cinder track, a fissure edge, a ravine edge, a cliff face, a talus slope, a lava tube interior section, a collapsed tube roof and a hot spring pool in its sinter terraces. Free standing features add a lava tube mouth, basalt column clusters, a spatter cone, a spatter rampart, a hornito, a fumarole crusted with sulphur, a sulphur deposit patch, a steam vent plate, a mud pot, a geyser cone, a breached scoria cone, an obsidian flow slab and a lava fountain plate, and the debris runs to volcanic bombs in three sizes, a bomb impact crater, ash drifts, lapilli, pumice, rockfall, boulders, a burnt tree stump and a charred log. The survey camp brings a seismometer hut, a tripod sensor mast, a sample crate, a gas monitor box, a heat suit on a stand, a marker post, a blank faced warning sign, a boardwalk module and a rope bridge over a fissure. Four rigid node transform clips, and only four, because a landscape does not move: the hut door swings, the sample crate and gas monitor lids lift, and the sensor head spins. Lava flow, steam, smoke, fire, the glow itself and the sag of the rope bridge are all static, because a fluid, a light and a flexible material need a shader, a light or a joint per element and none of that is reachable with one rigid node transform; molten rock and glow seams are emissive geometry and the pack embeds no lights at all. There are no people or animals anywhere in it, so there is no skinned mesh. A generic volcanic landscape: no real volcano, national park, observatory, research institute or equipment maker is named or depicted, no identifiable landmark is reproduced, and every sign, marker plate and instrument panel is blank.

Common questions

How do I use Volcano and Lava Fields with my AI development tools?
Press "Copy for AI agent" above and paste the prompt into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT or any other coding assistant. The prompt carries the direct CDN URL, the real-world size, the licence and the loading notes, so the assistant can fetch the pack and place it in your project without you writing the loader yourself. For a permanent connection, add the 3DAssets.dev MCP server to your tool with one command (for Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http 3dassets https://3dassets.dev/mcp) and the assistant can then search the whole catalogue, fetch files and read the usage snippets on its own.

MCP server setupGuide for AI agents

How do I get started?
Download the starter scene with the button to get every piece already placed as one .glb, or take individual models from the grid below, each with its own download and CDN URL. The JSON manifest linked above lists every file with its URL and size, which is what an AI agent uses to pull the pack into a project. Connect your agent to the MCP server and it can do all of that by itself.

MCP server setupAPI reference

Which game engines and tools can I use Volcano and Lava Fields with?
Anything that reads glTF, which today means all of the major ones: three.js and React Three Fiber on the web, Godot 4, Unity, Unreal Engine 5, Blender and the model-viewer web component. Every model in the pack is a self-contained binary glTF (.glb) with textures embedded, and so is the starter scene, so each is one file to import and no plugin, converter or decoder to install first.
How do I import this pack into Unity, Godot, Unreal or Blender?
Unity: install the glTFast package (com.unity.cloud.gltfast) from the Package Manager, drop the .glb into Assets and drag the prefab in, or load it at runtime from the CDN URL. Godot 4: copy the file into the project folder and the editor imports it as a scene you can instantiate. Unreal Engine 5: File > Import with the built-in glTF importer, which converts the axes for you. Blender: File > Import > glTF 2.0. Units are metres with +Y up in the file, and every importer above handles the conversion to its own axes automatically.
Can I use Volcano and Lava Fields in a commercial game, and do I need to credit anyone?
Yes to commercial use and no to credit. Every pack on 3DAssets.dev is released under CC0 1.0 Universal, which places it in the public domain: use it in a paid game, an app, a film or a client project, modify it, redistribute it, and put nothing in the credits. A link back is welcome but it is entirely your choice.

CC0 licence text

Can I load it from the CDN instead of downloading it?
Yes. The starter scene, one .glb with every piece placed, has a permanent URL on cdn.3dassets.dev that is CORS-enabled and never changes content, so you can pass it straight to GLTFLoader, glTFast or model-viewer in production and cache it as hard as you like. Downloading is only needed for engines that import from disk.
Do I have to download the whole pack?
No. Every model in the pack is a separate published asset with its own download and CDN URL, so you can take one prop or the entire set. The starter scene is the one-file option for people who want everything placed at once.
Do the models in Volcano and Lava Fields fit together?
That is the point of a pack. The members are built together to one real-world scale with consistent pivots and a shared palette and level of detail, so a building, a vehicle and a prop from the same pack sit correctly in one scene without rescaling or re-texturing.
