Volcano and Lava Fields
Walk a lava field at the foot of a cone: a boardwalk over an open channel, a lava lake, a tube mouth, a rope bridge over a fissure, geothermal ground and a small survey camp.
About
A volcanic landscape laid out corner to corner on the pack's own 4 m grid, about 62 m by 54 m of walkable ground with the cone as the backdrop to the north.
What is placed. Cone flank modules in three slopes build the cone in overlapping rows, topped by the crater rim and floor. A lava lake fills the hollow at its western foot and feeds a channel that runs the length of the plot in straights, a curve and a front lobe, with cracked plates and their glow seams either side. The crust and clinker field between them carries pahoehoe, aa rubble, tumulus mounds, obsidian slabs, cinder track and ash, littered with volcanic bombs in three sizes, impact craters, pumice heaps, rockfall piles and boulder sets. A lava tube mouth, an interior section and a collapsed roof open a cave in the middle of the field. A fissure crosses it with the rope bridge over the gap. East of the field the geothermal ground carries fumaroles with sulphur crusts, sulphur deposits, steam vent plates, mud pots, a geyser cone and a hot spring pool edge, beside a basalt colonnade of hexagonal pavement and column clusters. A burnt margin of scorched plates, stumps, charred logs and ash drifts closes the southern edge, and a survey camp stands on the crust with the seismometer hut, tripod sensor masts, sample crates, a heat suit on its stand, gas monitor boxes, marker posts and blank warning signs. A boardwalk runs east to west across the field and turns north over the lava channel, which is where the visitor starts.
What moves. Almost nothing, and that is the correct answer for a landscape. The seismometer hut door opens and closes, the sample crate and gas monitor lids open and close, and the tripod sensor mast head spins. That is the whole moving inventory of the pack, and the demo places each of them beside the path so you can walk up and watch.
What does not move, and why. The lava, the steam, the smoke, the fire and the glow are static. Fluid and light need a shader or a simulated element, and animation here is rigid node transforms only: one node, one rigid move. The glow seams are emissive looking geometry, not lights, and the pack embeds no lights at all, so a renderer lights them however its own scene does. The rope bridge sag is modelled into the deck rather than hanging, because a hanging bridge needs a joint per plank and no joints exist here. There are no people and no animals, because that would need skinned meshes and the pack has none.
A note on the signs. Every sign face, instrument plate and marker in the pack is deliberately blank. This is not a real volcano, park or observatory and nothing here is meant to read as one.
Size. The demo places the whole pack, 57 distinct models, so the browser downloads all of them once and clones them. That is the trade for a field that is dressed corner to corner rather than a lineup.

The boardwalk over the channel
The planked walk crosses an open lava channel and ends at its lip. Channel straights, a curve and a front lobe tile on the same 4 m grid as the crust, so a flow can be routed anywhere across a field.

Flank modules come in three slopes and stack into a cone, each row overlapping the one in front so no tile edge shows. The crater rim and floor sit at the top.
