Walkable demo
Tundra and Floe: a polar wildlife walk
Walk a polar reserve from the seal haul-out and penguin rookery past whales to ibex ridges and pandas. All 38 models placed.
About
A walkable polar reserve on a 62 by 52 m plot, laid as a loop: the seal haul-out bay, the penguin rookery, the whale channel, the alpine ridge, the panda hollow and the tundra herd ground.
What is placed: all 38 published members of the pack. The two environment scenes anchor two zones: the ice floe colony sits under the penguin rookery and the Himalayan ridge builds the crags. Floe slabs floor the bay and channel flanks, pressure ridges rim the ice, iceberg fragments back the north edge, snow drifts fill the open tundra, and bamboo clumps plant the panda hollow. Every animal appears at least once, with colonies where they belong: twelve emperor penguins and chicks, seal groups, a five strong musk ox herd, and small scatter of foxes, hares, lemmings, marmots and ptarmigan.
What moves: nothing. None of the 38 members ships animation clips, so the scene sets no animate flags and every animal stands as a posed figure, which is how the pack was authored.
What is not placed: nothing is left out. All 38 members are in the scene. The giant panda, red panda and bamboo sit together in one sheltered hollow at the warm end of the reserve, since lowland bamboo never grows beside a seal haul-out; the description on the page says so plainly.
Every piece here is a published model from the pack, placed by hand. Walk with the keys or touch, and approach a piece to see it move if it has animation. Colliders, navigation and gameplay are yours to add.
Points of interest
The floe edge at first light
A polar bear family works the broken floe edge in the first metres of the walk. Cubs stay close to the big female while a second bear watches from the slabs.
polar bear (Arctic and Polar Animals)The seal haul-out
Walrus, harp seals and pups crowd the bay ice beside weddell and leopard seals. The elephant seals hold the far end of the beach, as they should.
harp seal (Arctic and Polar Animals)The penguin rookery
Emperor adults ring their chicks on the colony floe while gentoo penguins nest round the edges. Three birds toboggan down the drift to the water.
emperor penguin (Arctic and Polar Animals)The whale channel
A bowhead whale lies mid channel with narwhal and beluga either side of it. Pressure ridges and floe slabs close the lane so it reads as open water.
bowhead whale (Arctic and Polar Animals)High pasture
Ibex and Himalayan tahr graze the ridge below the crags while marmots and ptarmigan work the scree between the drifts.
alpine ibex (Arctic and Polar Animals)The snow leopard's ledge
A snow leopard watches the tahr herd from the rocks above. Give it room: the cats sit apart from the grazers, predator from prey.
snow leopard (Arctic and Polar Animals)The bamboo hollow
Giant pandas feed in the sheltered hollow at the warm end of the reserve, with red pandas in the clumps round them. The odd corner of the pack, kept together.
giant panda (Arctic and Polar Animals)The herd ground
Musk oxen close round the caribou bulls and yak on the open tundra. Foxes, hares, lemmings and a wolverine move through the grass between them.
