About
A fixed offshore platform seen the way anyone on it sees it, from one walkable deck level, with the derrick, the crane and the flare boom rising above it as silhouette.
What is placed. A braced steel jacket stands in the sea and carries a continuous grated deck, with the wellbay let into it: three christmas trees and the preventer stack in the cellar sections, railed off from the walking route. The drill floor carries the rotary table, the travelling block landed at the well centre and the iron roughneck, with the derrick and its crown block over them and the drawworks, the setback of pipe and bundles on trestles behind. Mud pumps, mud tanks, the shale shaker and the cement unit fill the west side under the flare boom. Pipe rack and cable tray bays and raised walkways tie that side to the generator sets, the diesel tank, the water maker and the seawater lift pump on the east. The living quarters is four module bays, two of them open and fitted out, with the stair tower beside it and the helideck over the corner. A load-out deck to the south carries stacked containers and slung baskets under the pedestal crane, with the supply vessel standing off in the water, and a forward deck to the north carries the standby cargo, the foghorn and the wind sock. Safety kit is where it belongs: lifeboat in davits, liferafts, muster boards, suit lockers, escape chutes, fire monitors and hose reels round the deck edges.
What moves. The travelling block hoists, the crane boom slews and its hook lifts, the rotary table turns, the drawworks and mud pump flywheels spin, the tank agitators turn, the shale shaker shakes, every valve handwheel turns, the davits swing the lifeboat out, and doors, hatches, cabinet fronts and cabin drawers open and close.
What does not move, and why. Wire rope, hoses, slings, cables, the helideck net, the escape chute sock, the wind sock and the sea are static geometry, and there is no flare flame: flexible material needs a joint per element and fire needs a shader, and neither is reachable with the rigid node transforms this library uses. There are no people, because nothing in the pack is skinned. No operator, drilling contractor, equipment maker or real installation is named or reproduced, and every plate, sign, screen and name board is blank.
