Walkable demo
Arctic research station
Walk an occupied polar research station from the Arctic Station FPS Kit: seventeen habitat bays and a plant corridor closed on every port, two armoury bays holding all twelve weapons, the vehicle track, the wreck and the ice tunnel outside.
About
A working polar research station on the ice, built from 48 of the pack's 81 models: seventeen station pieces on the 4 m bay grid, ninety one snow and packed track tiles under them, and the yard, vehicles, stores, science gear and operators around them.
You start on the vehicle track facing the entrance. The way in is a door cap module whose insulated leaf swings as you reach it. Behind it a spine of eight bays runs east to west: a glazed observation cap, a window bay, three junctions, two straight bays and a corner, with every port closed by a cap, a bay or a junction, so no collar is left open to the weather. Three wings leave the spine: the bunk wing south west, glazed on both sides and ending in a window cap; the entrance and armoury wing south east; and the lab wing that the corner turns south into. North of the middle junction a corridor tube runs out through a pressure bulkhead to the generator hut, with fuel tanks on their cradles outside it.
The bays are furnished for what they are, with pallets, crates, drums, heaters, radios, laptops and medical kits, and you can walk into all of them: the demo has no collision and the station stands on the ice rather than on stilts. They are lit only by the sky term of the outdoor preset, since each bay carries its own roof, so an interior reads as a shaded space rather than a lit one. The weapons are therefore laid out where they can be seen: a kit up point on the ice beside the airlock, with three weapon crates open on the snow carrying a rifle, a carbine and a launcher, ammunition boxes, a medical kit and two sandbag positions with a tripod gun covering the approach. A fourth weapon lies in the interior armoury bay.
Outside, the packed snow track runs past the door and turns north up the plot, with the snowcat on it and two skidoos parked off it. The west end is a science yard: two core drill rigs, a drum rack, crates, drums, rope, shovels and a sled harness on the ice under the glazed cap. Beyond it a twin engine transport lies broken in two under a drift, with more stores and a trooper working in from the wreck. South of the plant the ice tunnel runs out under the plateau behind its timber portal, dressed with racks, drums and gear along the route. The comms mast, two radar domes, seven floodlight masts, two spotlight towers and the flagpole light and watch the yard.
What moves: the entrance door and the pressure bulkhead swing, the snowcat and skidoo hatches open, the crashed nose opens its doors and turns a propeller, the winch trailer spins its drum, the ammunition and weapon crates open their lids, the flag stirs, and each of the four weapons works its magazine, bolt and stock as you come within a few metres. What does not: the operators are static posed meshes, because there is no skinning in this pipeline, and the crashed tail, the masts, the domes and the towers are fixed structures with no mechanism to drive. Eight of the pack's twelve weapon archetypes, the six attachments, the stilt sets, the stair and the helipad tile are in the pack but not placed here, because each weapon is about a megabyte and a demo has to stay light enough to walk in a browser.
Every piece here is a published model from the pack, placed by hand. Walk with the keys or touch, and approach a piece to see it move if it has animation. Colliders, navigation and gameplay are yours to add.
Points of interest
The way in
The entrance is a door cap module: the insulated leaf swings open as you reach it. Every port on the run behind it is closed by a cap, a window bay or a junction, so no bay is left open to the weather.
Habitat Module Door Cap (Arctic Station FPS Kit)Kitting up at the airlock
Weapon crates are open on the ice beside the door with a rifle, a carbine and a launcher on their lids, sandbags and a tripod gun covering the approach. Walk up and each action works its magazine, bolt and stock.
Assault Rifle (Arctic Station FPS Kit)Down to the plant
The corridor tube leaves the spine north through a pressure bulkhead, whose door swings, and ends at the generator hut with the fuel tanks outside it.
Corridor Door Bulkhead (Arctic Station FPS Kit)The science yard
Two core drill rigs, a sled and its harness, a drum rack and the crates stand on the ice under the glazed west cap, which closes the habitat run with the radio set and a laptop on the bench inside it.
Ice Core Drill Rig (Arctic Station FPS Kit)The vehicle track
Packed snow tiles carry the route past the door to the helideck spur. The snowcat and the skidoos open their doors and hatches as you pass, and the winch trailer spins its drum.
Snowcat Tracked Vehicle (Arctic Station FPS Kit)The wreck
A twin engine transport lies broken in two under a drift. The nose still opens its doors and turns a propeller; the tail is static, which is what a torn off tail should be.
Crashed Transport Nose (Arctic Station FPS Kit)The service tunnel
A timbered portal in the spoil bank takes a cut ice bore west under the plateau. Two bore sections carry it out of the plot.
Ice Tunnel Mouth (Arctic Station FPS Kit)Comms and radar
The mast and its dishes stand clear of the roofs with the radar dome beside them, floodlights and a spotlight tower covering the yard between there and the wreck.
