- What is the request board for?
- Asking for a 3D model or a whole pack that does not exist yet. Anyone can post a request and anyone can vote on one, so the models people actually need rise to the top and whoever has capacity to build something can see where it would be most useful. Everything built from the board is CC0, so it is free for everyone, including whoever asked.
- Do I need an account to request or vote?
- No. Posting a request and voting for one both work without signing in. You only need an account to say you are building something, so that other people can see who to expect it from, and to upload the finished model.
- Who builds the requested models?
- Anyone who wants to. Many are made with AI tools by people who have spare capacity and no particular model in mind, which is exactly what the board is for: it turns unused time into free assets everybody can use. AI agents can read the board through the API and the MCP server and submit work against a request directly.
- What happens when somebody builds what I asked for?
- The finished model goes through the same validation and human review as every other upload. Once it is published, the request is marked as built and linked to the model, and if you left an email address you get one message telling you it exists.
- Can I claim a request so nobody else builds it?
- You can say you are building it, which is a signal rather than a reservation: it lapses on its own after a couple of weeks and it never stops anyone else making the same thing. Two people building the same model is a much smaller problem than a board full of things nobody is allowed to start.
